The evolution of Disciplined Agile (DA) necessitates understanding its measurement approaches. Utilizing PMI's DA Toolkit and materials, Karey will give us an overview of the basic metrics and discuss the associated strengths and weaknesses.

 

Learning Objectives

• You need to both "be agile" and know how to "do agile."

• Disciplined Agile (DA) provides the scaffolding—a tool kit of agnostic advice—to choose your WoW.

• DA enables you to leverage lessons learned.

• The real goal is to effectively achieve desired organizational outcomes, not to be/do agile.

• Better decisions lead to better outcomes.

Karey Sayre is the CEO, President, and Co-founder of PM Training Services Corp, a 501(c)(3) non-profit focused on Portfolio, Program, and Project related services. He is a former Department of Homeland Security Program Manager and a Contracting Officer's Technical Representative (COTR). Karey was also honored to serve in several notable endeavors, including organizational representation in a seven-year $8B acquisition program, multiple $10M+ information technology infrastructure initiatives, an organizational human resources validation committee impacting over 1,000 employees, an executive development program, and delivery of classified White House briefings.

Karey's award highlights include the Coast Guard Commendation Medal, a Humanitarian Service Medal, two Meritorious Team Commendations, a Marine Corps honor graduate, a distinguished educational leadership finalist, three Coast Guard Achievement Medals, two Kuwaiti Liberation Medals, a Korean Defense Service Medal, two special operations service awards, and multiple faculty excellence awards.

Karey received a master of science in Management Information Systems and a graduate certificate in Systems Analysis from the University of Maryland University College. Karey holds two PMI certifications, PMP and Disciplined Agile Scrum Manager (DASM) and PMI's Agile Metrics micro-credential. He is also a Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Master (CSM).

Karey's non-profit memberships include Together SC, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), and Military Officers Association of America (MOAA). He also currently serves as the Vice President of Professional Development for the PMI Charleston SC Chapter.
