TalkMany interactions between stakeholders in a project are intercultural. Scholars like Larson and Gray (2011, pp.533) opine that project teams that consist of employees from different countries and cultures can be referred to as global project teams. Today’s project management professionals frequently lead or work within global project teams either on-ground, virtually or internationally. This talk explores some of the key issues and success factors that ensure effective leadership and successful projects. Some of the issues that would be explored would include: [1] The importance of culture when managing projects-on the ground, virtually and internationally. [2] How to effectively lead, work within or effectively negotiate across cultures. [3] Understanding cross-cultural communication styles-verbal, non-verbal and virtual. [4] How to develop cultural awareness, fluency and intelligence. [5] Understanding the concept of national cultures and how-to transverse the land-mines.
