Mrs. Devine will discuss how to achieve balance in today's busy lifestyles.  As a wife, mother, attorney and elected official, Mrs. Devine has a lot of demands on her time.  She will share her strategies on how she balances life's demands and still remains true to herself.

Tameika Isaac Devine

City Councilwoman Tameika Devine is a founding partner in the law firm of Jabber & Isaac, PA, a general practice law firm where she specializes in the areas of real estate, probate, personal injury and business transactions.  Mrs. Devine is a graduate of Spring Valley High School. She received her undergraduate degree in Business Management from Hampton University and her Juris Doctorate from the University of South Carolina School of Law.  Mrs. Devine is also a facilitator at the University of Phoenix where she teaches Criminal Law and Business Law.

Mrs. Devine is the first African-American female to serve on City Council and the first African-American to be elected At-Large. She serves on numerous boards, commissions and civic organizations, including a past member of the Board of Visitors for Columbia College and the board of Junior Achievement. Mrs. Devine has been named a “Woman of Distinction” Award by the Congaree Area Girls Scouts of America and a “Woman of Excellence” by the Nu Omicron Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.  She has also received the Living the Legacy Award by the National Council of Negro Women, the Whitney M. Young Jr. service award by the Indian Waters Council of Boy Scout of America, and the Lincoln C. Jenkins, Jr. Award by the Columbia Urban League. She was also named by The State Newspaper as one of the “20 Under 40”.

Her contributions to her community are further expressed through her work with her church, Brookland Baptist, and her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

 Mrs. Devine is married to Jamie L. Devine, a member of the Richland One Board of School Commissioners and they are the proud parents of two daughters, Tamia and Jade.  The Devines reside in downtown Columbia.
